Life Recorded Text Styles and Formatting

As part of the community atmosphere we encourage on this site, all around Life Recorded there are ways for users to post comments, topics and replies. Styling will enable you to improve the appearance of your message or highlight specific parts of the message. Below is a list of ways you can do this, if you need more help please do not hesitate to contact us.

To change the format of your text you need to use tags. A tag is simply an instruction to an internet browser to display text in a certain way. There are two main types of tag; an opening tag, which looks like this [b], and a closing tag which looks like this [/b] - note the / in the closing tag.

To change the format of any character, word or phrase you simply put an opening tag before it, then a closing tag after it. You can see how these will affect your text by viewing the list of tags below.

NOTE: Not closing tags means that the style will not display correctly; remember to always close your tags, for example [b]text[/b] will display as text, whereas [b]text, will not be displayed in bold because the closing tag [/b] is missing.

Bold Text
To make part or all of your text bold place [b] in front of the text and [/b] at the end of the text. e.g. [b]text[/b] displays as text.

Italic Text
To make part or all of your text italic place [i] in front of the text and [/i] at the end of the text. e.g. [i]text[/i] displays as text.

Underlined Text
To make part or all of your text underlined place [u] in front of the text and [/u] at the end of the text. e.g. [u]text[/u] displays as text.

Strike Through Text
To put a strike through your text place [strike] in front of the text and [/strike] at the end of the text. e.g. [strike]text[/strike] displays as text.

Email Link
To make a link to an email in a message place [email] in front of the address and [/email] at the end of the address. When someone clicks on this link, it will automatically open up a new email message window on their computer, inserting the address from the email link in the To field. e.g. [email]test@liferecorded.com[/email] will display as test@liferecorded.com.

Image
To place an image in your message place [img] in front of the image link and [/img] at the end of the image link. The link for an image is the location it is stored at on the internet.

Hyperlink
If you would like to place a hyperlink in your message to another web site or page you can use the [url] [/url] tags either side of the address or page.
e.g. [url]http://www.liferecorded.com/[/url] will display as http://www.liferecorded.com/.

Quoting Text
If you would like to quote another message place [quote] in front of the text and [/quote] at the end of the text. e.g. [quote]Welcome to Life Recorded[/quote] will display as Welcome to Life Recorded.
